Joy came to Eden Counseling Center in 2006 after completing a successful career as a Guidance Counselor in Virginia Beach Public Schools. She enjoyed seventeen years working with elementary school children and their families to overcome obstacles to academic and relationship success. Her broad experience includes skills in Anger Management, Behavior Modification and Management, Conflict Resolution, Coping Skills, Parent Education and Training, Character Education, School Adjustment, and Implementation of Complex and Comprehensive School Counseling Programs. Joy recently completed training in Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) to further enhance her Parent/Child communication skills. Joy earned her M. Ed. in counseling from Old Dominion University in Norfolk in 1989. She received her LPC licensure in 1994 and her LMFT in 1996.
