Since completing the Masters of Social Work at the
University of Chicago in 1988, Chris has served as
clinical therapist and college professor and seeks to
help clients find solutions to problems by strengthening
their social, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual resources. Chris has received
advanced training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy and
has been using this empirically validated method since 1995. EMDR is effective with
victims of trauma from abuse, war, accidents and also with phobias and panic
attacks. Chris coordinates care with medical doctors in dealing with mood and
anxiety problems, Post-Traumatic Stress, and the needs of elderly. Chris has
extensive experience and training in the mental health of children and teens. He
seeks to mobilize the resources of schools and families in responding to the mood
and behavior problems children and adolescent encounter during the school years.
Chris teaches on topics related to family and marital relationships and mental health
issues through seminars and radio broadcasting. He was guest lecturer at Kosin
University, Pusan, South Korea on topics related to Christianity and psychotherapy.
